On Sunday, July 27, 2025, at a motel on Harts Road in Jacksonville’s District 6, officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a domestic battery. Upon arrival, patrol officers located the victim, who identified 52-year-old Aaron King as the individual who attacked her during a domestic disturbance.
According to officers at the scene, King had retreated into one of the motel rooms and refused to comply when they attempted to make contact. Patrol officers repeatedly knocked and gave verbal commands, but King refused to answer the door or exit the room. Due to King’s refusal and the potential for escalating violence, officers called in the JSO SWAT Team for assistance.
After the SWAT Team arrived, they made multiple attempts to negotiate with King. Despite repeated commands, King barricaded himself inside the room by using the motel’s mattress to block the door, further impeding entry. SWAT officers continued to issue commands over a loudspeaker and attempted to de-escalate the situation for an extended period.
Eventually, the SWAT Team made a forced entry into the room and safely took King into custody without injury to officers or the suspect. He was arrested and is now facing a felony charge of Aggravated Battery in connection to the initial domestic violence report.
Aaron King is a Registered Sexual Offender in the State of Florida. He has been listed on the registry since 2007 following a conviction for unlawful sexual activity with a minor. In January 2024, he was convicted for failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements.
