On Thursday, July 31, 2025, at approximately 10:15 P.M., Lake City Police responded to a crash involving a pedestrian near SW Bascom Norris Drive and SW Tomoka Terrace.
A pedestrian walking eastbound was struck by a 2010 Cadillac CTS and suffered serious injuries. The individual was treated at the scene before being transported to UF Health Shands in Gainesville for emergency care.
The driver, 68-year-old Frank Daniel West of Live Oak, displayed signs of impairment. Based on crash evidence and his behavior, officers arrested West. He was taken for medical clearance and booked into the Columbia County Detention Center. His bond has been set at $500,000.
