Mexican National Arrested in South Florida on Child Sexual Abuse Material Charges

PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the Coconut Creek Police Department have arrested Oscar Daniel Rojas-Garcia, 39, a Mexican national, on 16 felony charges related to child sexual abuse material.

The investigation began after the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force received seven cybertips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Detectives identified Rojas Garcia as the individual downloading files depicting the sexual abuse of children and animals, as well as uploading self-produced images of himself.

Rojas Garcia, who is in the U.S. illegally and currently under removal proceedings, moved from Coconut Creek to Palm Beach County during the investigation. FDLE agents and ICAC investigators located and arrested him on August 1 in Palm Beach County. They seized two electronic devices.

Rojas Garcia was transported to the Paul Rein Detention Facility in Broward County. He is charged with 14 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material, one count of transmission of child sexual abuse material, and one count of peddling child sexual abuse material. The Office of the State Attorney, 17th Judicial Circuit, is prosecuting the case, which remains active.
