The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) has arrested Autumn Bardisa, 29, of Palm Coast, for allegedly posing as a licensed nurse and providing medical care to over 4,000 patients. The seven-month investigation was conducted in coordination with AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway and multiple state and federal agencies.
The investigation began in January 2025 after AdventHealth reported that it had terminated Bardisa for impersonating a registered nurse. According to the hospital, Bardisa was hired on July 3, 2023, as an advanced nurse technician. When applying for a promotion, she provided a registered nurse license number that matched the first name “Autumn” but belonged to a different person. She claimed a name change due to marriage but never provided the requested marriage license to confirm her identity.
A fellow employee discovered that Bardisa’s certified nursing assistant license had expired, leading AdventHealth to conduct its own investigation. Bardisa was terminated on January 22, 2025, after she failed to confirm her identity.
The criminal investigation, which involved the Florida Department of Health and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, determined that Bardisa had provided medical services to 4,486 individuals between June 2024 and January 2025 without a valid nursing license.
On August 5, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Bardisa for seven counts of practicing a health care profession without a license and seven counts of fraudulent use of personal identification information. She was located at her residence and arrested on a $70,000 bond.
Sheriff Rick Staly called it “one of the most disturbing cases of medical fraud we’ve ever investigated” and thanked the various agencies for their work. Anyone who believes they may be a victim of Bardisa is asked to contact the FCSO by email at fakenursecase@flaglersheriff.com.
