On September 29, 2024, Jacksonville Beach Police officers responded to a shooting at 3rd Avenue South and 7th Street. Officers located the victim, rendered life-saving aid, and began searching for the suspect, later identified as Terry L. Wright.
While still on scene, dispatch received reports of Wright assaulting a female nearby. Officers quickly responded, and with the assistance of off-duty Officer McMinn, Wright was taken into custody without further injury to the victims.
This week, Wright was found guilty on multiple charges involving several victims. On August 12, 2025, Judge London Kite sentenced Wright to 50.5 years in state prison—40 years on two charges to run concurrently, plus an additional 10.5 years consecutively.
The Jacksonville Beach Police Department credited the swift actions of responding officers and the intervention of Officer McMinn for preventing further harm during the incident.
