SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla.—A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an attack on a woman on the Seminole Wekiva Trail.
On Monday, August 18, at approximately 4:00 p.m., a female victim was walking along the trail near State Road 434 and Douglas Avenue when she was approached by a man with an electric scooter. The suspect dragged her into the nearby woods. A witness heard the victim’s cries for help and called 911.
Following an investigation, detectives arrested Patrick Gamache, 20. He has been charged with Sexual Assault/Battery and is currently being held at a detention facility.
In a statement, Sheriff Dennis M. Lemma praised the victim’s courage and thanked detectives for their work. He also extended gratitude to the public and media, saying that the “vigilance of law-abiding citizens helps keep our community safe.”
