CAPE CORAL, Fla.—A Cape Coral man has been arrested on ten felony counts of possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM), as part of a statewide initiative by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
Eduardo Antonio Arango Ruiz, 69, was arrested on August 18 and transported to the Lee County Jail.
The FDLE investigation began after the agency received information from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office that a user on a peer-to-peer file-sharing website was downloading files depicting child sexual abuse. The user was later identified as Arango Ruiz.
On August 12, FDLE agents executed a search warrant at Arango Ruiz’s residence and located a device containing files of child sexual abuse.
The case is being prosecuted by Attorney General James Uthmeier’s Office of Statewide Prosecution. The investigation is active and ongoing.
