Lake City Police Investigating Serious Pedestrian-Bicycle Crash on U.S. Highway 90

On Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 9:28 p.m., Lake City Police Department officers responded to a traffic crash involving a pedestrian and bicycle near West U.S. Highway 90 and Interstate 75.

When officers arrived, they found a pedestrian and a bicycle lying in the outside travel lane of West U.S. Highway 90. The pedestrian had sustained a significant head injury. Columbia County Emergency Medical Services transported the individual to a nearby trauma center for treatment.

The driver of the involved vehicle told officers he was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 90 and merging from the outside lane to the inside lane when a bicyclist suddenly entered his path, causing a collision with the front driver’s side of his vehicle.

A witness at the scene supported the driver’s account, stating he observed the bicyclist move into the roadway in front of the vehicle, leading to the crash.

Due to the severity of the injuries, the investigation was turned over to the Lake City Police Department’s Traffic Unit.
