The Ocala Police Department announced major progress in two 2024 homicide investigations, with first-degree murder charges filed against two suspects.
Detectives identified and charged Zavondre A. Newmones, 25, with the February 2024 murder of Troyelle Bell on NW 1st Street. He has been indicted on one count of first-degree murder.
In a separate case, Stephon A. Bagley, 27, was arrested for the June 2024 murder of Faye Porter on NW 20th Avenue. Bagley faces multiple charges, including:
- First-degree murder
- Attempted second-degree murder
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
- Fleeing and eluding
- Possession of a machine gun
- Possession of methamphetamine
- Possession of cannabis less than 20 grams
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Driving while license revoked as a habitual offender
According to Ocala Police, with these arrests, all homicide cases from 2024 have now been cleared.
The department credited the work of its Major Crimes Unit, particularly Detectives Grosso and Ridge, and expressed gratitude to the community for its support.
