Jacksonville Man Arrested in Fatal Ernest Street Shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) has arrested 32-year-old Brandon Engeloff, a convicted felon, in connection with the April 15, 2025, shooting death of 33-year-old Christopher Cam.

On the morning of April 15, JSO patrol officers responded to a shooting on Ernest Street near McDuff Avenue. They found Cam suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported by Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department to a local hospital, where he later died. The Medical Examiner’s Office ruled his death a homicide.

JSO Homicide and Crime Scene Units launched an investigation, reviewing evidence and examining case details over several months. Detectives ultimately identified Engeloff as the suspect.

Engeloff has since been taken into custody and booked into the Duval County Jail, where he faces charges related to Cam’s death.

JSO reports it is working closely with the State Attorney’s Office as the case proceeds.
