Orlando Police File New Charges in Overdose and Shooting Investigation

ORLANDO, Fla.—A man already in custody for an attempted homicide and shooting case is now facing additional felony charges after DNA evidence linked him to firearms found during a search warrant.

On August 12, the Orlando Police Department’s Overdose Investigative Unit (OIU) received DNA results that connected Joshua Nozil, 32, to firearms seized on December 26, 2024. The firearms were discovered during the execution of a search warrant at 4660 Carter Street, which was related to an ongoing overdose death investigation and the shooting/attempted homicide case.

During the search, investigators also seized illegal narcotics, including approximately 30 grams of MDMA, 15.2 grams of Molly, and 5.2 grams of fentanyl pills. Three firearms were recovered, one of which was confirmed as stolen.

Nozil, who had already been apprehended in connection with the shooting, now faces two additional charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
