Son Arrested for Mother’s Murder in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—A Jacksonville man has been arrested and charged with the murder of his mother, who was found with multiple stab wounds in her home on Saturday.

On August 23, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) officers from District 2 responded to a home on Peach Drive, where they found Lilian Ochoa-Menjivar, 55, with multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and her death was ruled a homicide by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The JSO Homicide Unit, along with patrol officers and the Crime Scene Unit, launched an immediate investigation. Detectives quickly identified Ochoa-Menjivar’s son, Hector Munoz-Ochoa, 24, as the primary suspect. Munoz-Ochoa was arrested and is currently being held at the Duval County jail.

According to a JSO statement, detectives will work with the State Attorney’s Office to ensure Munoz-Ochoa is held accountable for his actions. The investigation is ongoing.
