Substitute Teacher Arrested for Showing Explicit Content to Students in Hillsborough County

RIVERVIEW, Fla.—A substitute teacher at Pepin Academy has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of selling or distributing obscene material to minors.

Tanaya Jordan, 26, was arrested on September 4, following an investigation by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Detectives received a tip on August 25, alleging that Jordan showed explicit content to two juvenile victims while at the school.

A search warrant was obtained for Jordan’s cell phone, which confirmed the presence of the explicit material shown to the victims.

“It is unthinkable that an individual entrusted with shaping young minds would choose to betray that trust in such a horrific way,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “Because of the courage of the victims and the diligence of our detectives, she will be held accountable for her actions.”

Jordan is facing six counts of Sell or Distribute Obscene Material to a Minor and two counts of Unlawful Use of Two-Way Communications Device. The investigation remains active.
