Lehigh Acres Man Faces 14 Felony Counts for Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.—The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) has arrested Shane Thomas Stahl, 37, of Lehigh Acres, on 14 counts of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), a second-degree felony.

The arrest is part of a statewide FDLE initiative targeting criminals who exploit children and share CSAM online.

The investigation began on September 11, when FDLE agents, conducting an online investigation on a peer-to-peer file-sharing platform, identified Stahl as a user downloading multiple files depicting the sexual abuse of children.

On September 25, agents executed a search warrant at Stahl’s residence, seizing multiple devices for forensic analysis. During the search, agents also found methamphetamine in plain view, leading to his initial arrest on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The 14 felony counts of CSAM possession were filed on September 30 while Stahl was still in the Lee County Jail. The case is being prosecuted by Attorney General James Uthmeier’s Office of Statewide Prosecution and remains active.
