PALM COAST, Fla./EL PASO, Texas—A six-month investigation led by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) Major Case Unit has resulted in the arrest of Giovanni Gabriel Curtis, 22, of Palm Coast, on a fugitive warrant for sexually abusing a child under the age of 12.
Curtis was arrested by the El Paso Police Department in Texas over the weekend and is being held on a $150,000 bond awaiting extradition back to Flagler County.
Investigation Details
The investigation began in May 2025 after a victim’s parent contacted detectives. The parent reported learning that Curtis had repeatedly and inappropriately touched the child’s genitals over several years and had performed oral sex on a second victim. The parent also disclosed that Curtis, when confronted, admitted to touching other children as well.
- Suspect Admission: With assistance from the United States Army Criminal Investigations Division (Army CID), FCSO detectives traveled to El Paso, Texas, where Curtis was located. Curtis admitted to the allegations, and detectives recovered information that corroborated witness statements and outlined years of abuse.
- Age of Offender: Detectives determined through investigative means that Curtis was 13 years old when he committed the crimes in Flagler County.
Curtis was arrested for Sexual Battery on a victim under 12. Detectives are working with other agencies that are investigating additional crimes committed by Curtis in other jurisdictions.
Sheriff Rick Staly commended the victims for coming forward, stating, “This arrest shows that time does not erase the trauma caused by predators… and being a child yourself does not provide you immunity from the law.”
