A Middleburg man is in custody after a lengthy child exploitation investigation led detectives to his home earlier this week.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says it received multiple tips indicating that child sexual abuse material was linked to 64-year-old Shawn Owen Cirignano. The agency’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit opened an investigation and, after gathering evidence, obtained both a search warrant and an arrest warrant for the suspect.
On November 19, 2025, the Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team served both warrants at a residence on Quarterhorse Trail in Middleburg. Cirignano was taken into custody without incident. He faces ten counts of knowingly possessing and intentionally viewing child sexual abuse material. A judge set his bond at $1 million.
The case involved support from several partner agencies, including the Northeast Florida INTERCEPT Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.
Cirignano was booked into the Clay County Jail. The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation remains active, and detectives are working to determine whether additional victims or evidence may be involved.
