On November 12, 2025, St. Johns County deputies attempted to stop a speeding vehicle in a construction zone on State Road 16 near Whisper Ridge Drive. The driver refused to pull over and led deputies on a dangerous pursuit, reaching speeds of roughly 120 miles per hour in a 45-mph zone and driving into oncoming lanes of traffic for portions of the chase.
Deputies executed a PIT maneuver to bring the vehicle to a stop. The driver, 22-year-old Eric Tyrhee-Anthony Williams-Scott, ran from the scene but was quickly taken into custody.
Deputies learned that Williams-Scott’s driver’s license had been cancelled indefinitely since November 2023. A search of the vehicle uncovered Oxycodone pills and a firearm. Williams-Scott is prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition due to an injunction for protection against sexual violence.
He was arrested and charged with Fleeing and Eluding Law Enforcement, Resisting Without Violence, Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Valid Driver’s License, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Violation of Injunction.
