Port Charlotte High School Student Arrested for Threatening Teacher on Instagram

PORT CHARLOTTE, FL — A student at Port Charlotte High School was arrested Thursday afternoon after posting a threat toward a teacher on Instagram.

On November 20, deputies responded to the school following a tip from an FBI Intake Research Specialist, who reported that a student had threatened to “blow up and kill” a teacher. The student, identified as 14-year-old Angellique L. Nichols (DOB 03/09/2009), was quickly located and detained by the PCHS School Resource Deputy using information from the social media post.

“Charlotte County Public Schools considers every threat a serious matter. Students will not only be held accountable by law enforcement, but also by the district,” said Charlotte County Superintendent of Schools Mark Vianello. “Parents were notified promptly by school administration, reflecting our commitment to clear and timely communication. We encourage families to speak with their children about the seriousness of making threats, whether spoken, written, or posted online, and the serious consequences that follow.”

When questioned, Nichols said the post was made out of frustration toward the teacher and that she realized it was inappropriate.

“Stating after the fact that you did not mean it does not take the seriousness of these types of threats away,” said Sheriff Bill Prummell. “Once the post is out there, the damage is done, and there is no sympathy for your regret. We will continue to take every school threat seriously and hold each and every person behind them accountable.”

Nichols was arrested and transported to the Charlotte County Jail. Authorities continue to emphasize vigilance and proactive reporting to maintain safety within schools.
