Ocala, FL – Police are investigating a late-night shooting that left a 28-year-old man dead after a homeowner reported firing at someone trying to break into his residence.
Just before midnight on November 22, Ocala police received a 911 call from a man who said he had shot someone attempting to enter his home in the 200 block of NE 19th Avenue. Officers arrived and found Cristian Oleski Contreras-Leiva suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.
According to investigators, the individual who fired the weapon remained at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
Detectives are asking for the public’s help.
