Tallahassee, FL – The Tallahassee Police Department is mourning the loss of Officer Tyrese Coleman, who died early Thursday morning from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officer Coleman joined the department in January 2025.
“Our hearts are broken,” Chief Lawrence Revell said in a statement. “Officer Coleman was a valued member of our TPD family, and his loss is felt deeply across our department. We ask the community to keep his family, friends, and the men and women of the Tallahassee Police Department in their thoughts and prayers during this time of tremendous grief.”
The department says support resources have been made available to all personnel as they work through the loss together. TPD is asking the community to keep Coleman’s family uplifted and to offer compassion as they navigate the days ahead.
