Gainesville Arrest: Woman Accused of Using Car as Weapon After Armed Confrontation

Gainesville Police are investigating a violent attack that unfolded late Tuesday night, December 2nd, on the city’s southwest side. Officers were called just after 9:30 p.m. to the 1200 block of SW 16th Avenue for a reported aggravated assault and battery.

When officers arrived, they spoke with witnesses and the victim and learned that the suspect, 34-year-old Anquitte Quinn, had shown up uninvited at the victim’s home. According to police, Quinn challenged the victim to a fight, then pulled out a firearm, pointed it at her and threatened to shoot. A witness recorded the confrontation on video and handed the footage over to officers at the scene.

As the victim tried to walk away, the situation escalated even further. Investigators say Quinn got into her vehicle, accelerated toward the victim and struck her. The impact pushed the victim onto the hood of the car, where she held on while Quinn continued driving. Quinn then hit the brakes hard, sending the victim onto the pavement before speeding away.

The victim suffered multiple injuries from being hit by the car and thrown onto the roadway. She was treated at the scene before seeking further medical care.

Officers later found Quinn at her workplace across town. She was taken into custody without incident. During a search of her vehicle, police recovered the firearm believed to be used in the assault along with a quantity of cannabis.

Quinn was booked into the Alachua County Jail and faces several felony charges, including aggravated assault, aggravated battery and aggravated stalking. The investigation remains ongoing.
