Teen Arrested After Fatally Stabbing His Father in Jacksonville

A Jacksonville teenager is in custody after police say he fatally stabbed his father during a violent incident at a home on the city’s Westside.

Just before 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, officers with Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office District 4 responded to a 911 call reporting a stabbing at a residence on Wheeler Avenue, near Blanding Boulevard. When officers arrived, they found 42-year-old Jervas Williams suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives immediately began gathering evidence and speaking with witnesses inside the home. According to investigators, the details they collected quickly pointed to the victim’s 17-year-old son, Syr Williams, as the person responsible for the attack.

Detectives located and arrested the teen early Wednesday morning. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jacksonville jail.

JSO expressed condolences to the family and said the investigation will continue as detectives work to piece together what led to the deadly confrontation.

No additional details about the circumstances leading up to the stabbing have been released.
