On December 2, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Lake City Police officers responded to a reported robbery in progress at Dollar General, located at 136 NE Bascom Norris Drive, involving a suspect armed with a handgun.
Upon arrival, officers confirmed that no one had been physically injured. They secured the scene, collected initial statements, and reviewed surveillance footage of the suspects.
Investigators determined that a male suspect entered the store, selected an alcoholic beverage, and left without paying. When a store employee followed the suspect and a female companion, the male suspect exposed a handgun in his waistband and threatened to kill the employee and others before fleeing.
Law enforcement has identified the male suspect as Aljowan Jones, of Lake City. Jones has not yet been located and is considered armed and dangerous. Residents are urged not to approach him and to immediately contact 911 or the Lake City Police Department if they have any information.
Chief of Police Gerald Butler stated, “I am thankful that no one was physically harmed during this incident. Anytime a firearm is used to threaten our citizens, we take it extremely seriously. We will continue to work with our community partners and the State Attorney’s Office to ensure that those who bring guns into our businesses to commit crimes are held accountable.”
