Florida Man Arrested for Offering $50,000 to Kill Family Member

LEON COUNTY, FL – On Wednesday, December 3rd, 48-year-old Michael Morichelli was arrested in Leon County, Florida, for criminal solicitation to commit first-degree murder after an investigation revealed he attempted to hire someone to kill a family member.

Morichelli, who had previously been booked on stalking charges at the Leon County Detention Facility in Tallahassee, was reported to authorities by an inmate on November 18, 2025. The inmate told deputies that Morichelli had offered money to carry out a murder once the inmate was released.

Detectives with the Leon County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division confirmed that Morichelli initially offered $40,000 to have the murder carried out. When the offer was declined, he later increased it to $50,000.

Probable cause was established, and the case was forwarded to the Florida State Attorney’s Office. Morichelli was taken into custody and formally charged. The intended victim and their family were notified and are receiving assistance from the Leon County Sheriff’s Office to ensure their safety.

Morichelli had been previously arrested on June 6, 2025, and charged with Aggravated Stalking after Court Order. The victim of the stalking was the same one that he was trying to get killed.
