Collier County Woman Sentenced to 25 Years for Role in Fatal Fentanyl Overdose

COLLIER COUNTY, FL – A 30-year-old Collier County woman has been sentenced to 25 years in state prison for her role in the fentanyl overdose death of a local man last year.

At a hearing today, Michaelle Jean Haire pleaded no contest to manslaughter and sale or delivery of fentanyl. She was adjudicated guilty on both charges and received 15 years for manslaughter and 10 years for the fentanyl offense. The sentences will run consecutively.

Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said the outcome reflects his office’s commitment to pursuing individuals who peddle lethal drugs in the community.

“We will continue to hold drug dealers accountable for the lives they destroy,” Sheriff Rambosk said.

He also thanked the detectives who worked the case and State Attorney Amira Fox and her team for their efforts in securing justice.

Haire was first indicted on a charge of first-degree murder in April 2024 after detectives determined she supplied the fentanyl and other substances that caused the death of a 34-year-old man in September 2023. She has prior felony convictions in Collier County.

According to investigators, Haire spent the night with the victim at his home in Golden Gate Estates on September 3, 2023. The next morning, she found him unresponsive on the floor and contacted deputies. He was found dead in his bedroom with drug paraphernalia nearby.

The Medical Examiner ruled the death an accidental overdose caused by multiple drugs, including fentanyl and nordiazepam. The investigation later confirmed Haire supplied the drugs that led to the fatal overdose.
