On Tuesday, December 9th, Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno joined State Attorney Amira Fox to announce grand jury indictments in two major homicide cases.
Yohani Gonzalez de Lazaro has been indicted on two counts of First Degree Murder and two counts of First Degree Attempted Murder stemming from a 2023 shooting in Lehigh Acres. Four victims were shot during the incident, and two tragically lost their lives. Gonzalez de Lazaro was apprehended shortly after the shootings by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit.
Leosbey Cuesta de Armas faces charges of First Degree Murder and armed burglary in connection with a November 2025 incident in Lehigh Acres. Cuesta de Armas allegedly fatally stabbed a woman while she was decorating for Christmas with her family before fleeing. He was apprehended the following day after a vehicle pursuit through Hardee and Polk Counties.
Sheriff Marceno highlighted the collaboration between the Major Crimes Unit and the State Attorney’s Office, stating, “Violent crime will not be tolerated in Lee County. Offenders will be sought, arrested, and held accountable for their actions.”
Both cases remain active as authorities prepare for trial, with investigators and prosecutors committed to supporting the victims’ families and ensuring justice is served.
