Father Charged After Toddler Drowns in Hot Tub at Kissimmee Airbnb

KISSIMMEE, FL – A Washington, D.C., man has been charged in connection with the death of his 20-month-old daughter after she drowned in a hot tub at a Kissimmee vacation rental.

Just after 3:30 a.m. on December 13, 2025, deputies with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office and Osceola County Fire Rescue responded to a residence on Nice Court following a report of an unresponsive child. The home was being rented as an Airbnb by a family visiting from Washington, D.C.

The toddler, a 20-month-old girl born April 11, 2024, was transported to AdventHealth Celebration, where she was pronounced deceased shortly after 4:30 a.m.

Detectives said the child’s father, identified as Reynard Tyrone Hough, 33, told investigators he had brought his daughter into the hot tub and fell asleep while holding her. He reported waking up to find the child unresponsive in his arms while still in the hot tub.

Following an investigation, detectives determined Hough was neglectful in the circumstances leading to his daughter’s death. He was arrested and initially charged with Child Neglect Causing Great Bodily Harm. On Sunday, December 14, detectives added an additional charge of Aggravated Manslaughter of a Child.

Hough remains in custody at the Osceola County Jail. The death investigation remains ongoing.
