Woman Arrested After Pulling Gun During Vehicle Repossession in Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, FL – Gainesville police arrested a woman Sunday afternoon after she allegedly retrieved a handgun and became confrontational during a vehicle repossession.

Just after 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, Gainesville police officers responded to an armed disturbance in the 1000 block of Southwest 16th Avenue. When officers arrived, they found Lacey Brown, born July 26, 1995, inside a vehicle that was attached to a wrecker. The vehicle had already been lifted, secured, and was displaying emergency lighting.

According to the investigation, the vehicle was being legally repossessed when Brown entered the vehicle, retrieved a handgun, and began waving it around.

Police said Brown refused commands to exit the vehicle and became highly confrontational. As an officer attempted to remove her from the vehicle, Brown allegedly kicked the officer’s hand, causing the officer’s firearm to be dislodged.

Officers were eventually able to remove Brown from the vehicle and take her into custody. She was transported to the Alachua County Jail and charged with two counts of aggravated assault and battery on a law enforcement officer.
