Two Navy Sailors Killed in Front-Yard Shooting at Orange Park Home; Roommate Charged

ORANGE PARK, FL – Two young women were shot and killed late Tuesday night during a violent confrontation outside a residence in Orange Park, according to deputies. A 22-year-old man who lived at the home was arrested at the scene and now faces two counts of second-degree murder.

Deputies responded around 11:20 p.m. on December 17, 2025, to the 4400 block of Hanging Moss Drive after receiving multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a shooting. When they arrived, deputies found two adult women deceased in the front yard of the home. Both appeared to have been shot multiple times.

The suspect, identified as Taylor Lomax, remained on scene and was immediately taken into custody without incident. His wife was also detained during the initial response.

Investigators later determined that Lomax and the two victims, Jordyn Forrestier, 20, and Noely Makenda, 21, were roommates at the residence and all served together in the U.S. Navy. Authorities said Lomax’s wife had gone to the home to visit her husband, where an argument broke out between her and the roommates.

According to investigators, the verbal dispute escalated into a physical fight in the front yard. During the altercation, Lomax allegedly retrieved a handgun and fired approximately 30 rounds, striking both women multiple times. Lomax’s wife then called 9-1-1 to report the shooting.

Lomax was interviewed by detectives and formally charged with two counts of second-degree murder. His wife was also interviewed and later released without charges.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information related to the case is urged to contact the Clay County Sheriff’s Office at (904) 264-6512 or submit a tip through the SaferWatch app, referencing case number 2025028638.
