JACKSONVILLE, FL – On Saturday, December 20, 2025, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) patrol officers responded to a rental home on Arlingwood Avenue in Arlington following a shooting that left five young people injured.
Investigators determined the home had been rented short-term for a party when an argument erupted between two groups of attendees. During the dispute, a suspect opened fire, striking five victims—one of whom was hit multiple times. All victims were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries but are expected to survive.
JSO’s Robbery and Violent Crime Unit quickly took over the investigation and identified 19-year-old Kenshawn Prentice as the suspect. Arrest warrants were secured for five counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a juvenile delinquent.
On December 23, the JSO SWAT Team, working alongside the U.S. Marshals Task Force, located Prentice at a Northside residence on Sibbald Road. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Duval County Jail.
Authorities praised the swift response that removed a dangerous individual from the streets, preventing further potential tragedy during the holiday weekend.
