On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at approximately 8:50 p.m., Lake City Police officers responded to a reported robbery at BJ’s Meat Market, 837 NW Main Blvd. No injuries were reported.
Employees told officers that the suspect was nude except for a covering over his face. Officers quickly began an area search and reviewed surveillance footage. Evidence believed to be connected to the incident, including clothing and other items, was recovered along the suspect’s suspected route.
With assistance from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, police located and detained the suspect, 25-year-old Kobe Latrey Watkins of Lake City. Watkins was transported for medical evaluation before being booked into the Columbia County Detention Center.
“Incidents like this are unsettling, but our officers responded quickly, secured the scene, and worked with our partners to identify and arrest the suspect,” said Chief Gerald Butler. “We appreciate the swift assistance from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and the cooperation from the business employees that helped bring this to a safe resolution.”
