Missing: Brian Klecha

FDLE Renewing Search for Lakeland Air Force Veteran Missing Since 2017

TAMPA, FL – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement says it is continuing to actively pursue leads in the long-running disappearance of Lakeland Air Force veteran Brian Edward Klecha, who vanished eight years ago.

FDLE officials say they remain committed to uncovering what happened to Klecha, who was 35 years old at the time he disappeared.

“Eight years have passed and we are just as committed as ever to finding out the truth of what happened,” said FDLE Tampa Special Agent in Charge Mark Brutnell.

Klecha was last seen on December 27, 2017, when he made a banking transaction at a MIDFLORIDA Credit Union branch in Auburndale. Investigators say he had ties to Orange, Polk, and Hillsborough counties and was employed by the Disney Corporation at the time.

Several weeks later, on February 11, 2018, Klecha’s Jeep Patriot was discovered abandoned along State Road 618 in Tampa near the Morgan Street exit. Investigators believe the vehicle may have been involved in a crash a few days before it was found.

According to FDLE, evidence suggests Klecha may have been the victim of domestic violence or drug abuse and did not disappear voluntarily.

“If you have any information that can help us locate Brian, no matter how small, call us,” Brutnell said. “Even the tiniest shred of information can bring him that much closer to coming home.”

Anyone with information related to Brian Klecha’s disappearance is urged to contact the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
