Three Arrested After Armed Robbery, Assault Near Rural Cemetery in Hamilton County

Hamilton County Deputies arrested three suspects within hours of an armed robbery and assault near a rural cemetery after a crash alert from a victim’s iPhone and the intervention of an off-duty state trooper set the investigation in motion, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 7:50 p.m. on January 10, 2026, near Sassers Landing Cemetery in Jennings, FL, on Northwest County Road 150, when the 911 Communications Center received an automated crash alert from a nearby iPhone. Deputies were immediately dispatched to the area.

Before deputies arrived, the victim flagged down a passing vehicle driven by an off-duty Florida Highway Patrol trooper. The trooper stopped to help and contacted 911, at which point dispatchers learned the victim had been robbed at gunpoint and battered by the suspects.

Deputies located the victim, secured the scene, and began an investigation. An on-call investigator responded to collect evidence and later interviewed the victim, who had been transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The following morning, January 11, investigators developed information about the suspects’ whereabouts and located two of them, an adult male and an adult female, in Jennings around 10 a.m. Both were taken into custody. A third adult male suspect was later identified and also arrested.

Sheriff Creech credited the rapid arrests to coordinated efforts across agencies. “Thanks to the quick action of the off-duty Florida Highway Patrol Trooper who recognized something was wrong and stopped to assist, the swift response of our deputies, and the dedication and long hours put in by our investigators, three individuals were located and arrested within 16 hours of this violent crime,” Creech said.
