MACCLENNY, Fla. – Baker County deputies were involved in an officer-involved shooting Saturday evening, January 17th, while responding to a reported domestic violence incident off Harry Rewis Road.
According to the Baker County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched after receiving a report that an adult male had been shot by a family member. As deputies approached the residence, gunfire was directed toward them.
Deputies returned fire, critically wounding the suspect. During the exchange, one deputy was struck in the arm. The deputy was transported to a hospital and is reported to have non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect’s condition has not been updated, and no additional injuries were reported.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has been requested to conduct an independent investigation into the officer-involved shooting, which is standard procedure in incidents of this nature.
Authorities say more information will be released as the investigation continues.
