Woman Shot During Overnight Dispute in North Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Florida – An adult woman is recovering after being shot in the leg during an overnight dispute in North Jacksonville early Sunday, January 18, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Just after midnight, Jacksonville patrol officers responded to the Baptist North Emergency Room on Dunn Avenue after a gunshot victim arrived seeking treatment. Officers found the woman suffering from a gunshot wound to her leg. She is expected to recover from her injuries.

Detectives with JSO’s Robbery and Violent Crimes Unit determined the shooting stemmed from a dispute at a nearby residence. Investigators identified a suspect in connection with the incident, who was later taken into custody.

Authorities believe the shooting was an isolated incident and stated there is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation remains active.
