Jacksonville Couple Convicted in Horrific Years-Long Child Sex Abuse Case

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Duval County jury has found a married couple guilty of multiple serious sex crimes against children, culminating a years-long investigation that uncovered evidence of repeated sexual abuse involving four minor victims.

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announced that 42-year-old William Anthony McNeil was convicted of Sexual Battery (Victim Under 12), Lewd or Lascivious Molestation (Victim Under 12), Lewd or Lascivious Exhibition (Victim Under 16), Showing Obscene Materials to a Minor, two counts of Sexual Battery (Victim 12-18 Years Old), and two counts of Lewd or Lascivious Battery (Victim Under 16).

McNeil, who was already listed on the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Sexual Offenders and Predators registry following a prior sexual battery conviction in January 2010, now faces the possibility of life imprisonment.

His wife, 45-year-old Tynisha McCoy McNeil, was found guilty of two counts of Sexual Battery (Victim 12-18) by Custodian.

Both defendants were tried separately, with juries returning guilty verdicts on the charges. They now await sentencing by the Honorable Jonathan Sacks, at which time they could receive life sentences in Florida State Prison.

The case originated in late 2020 when one of the minor victims disclosed the abuse to a therapist. William McNeil was arrested in January 2021 and has remained incarcerated since that time. A subsequent search warrant executed at the couple’s home yielded substantial evidence, including videos and images depicting child pornography and the sexual abuse of minors.

Investigators identified four minor victims in total, who were able to independently corroborate key details of the abuse each had endured.

Tynisha McCoy McNeil was taken into custody on January 20, 2026, as the investigation expanded to include her role in the offenses.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office led the investigation, with prosecution handled by Assistant State Attorneys Erin Wolfson and Rachel Algee.

State Attorney Nelson commended the victims for their courage in coming forward and the collaborative efforts of law enforcement and prosecutors in securing the convictions.

“This case underscores the devastating impact of child sexual abuse and the importance of holding all responsible parties accountable,” Nelson stated. “Our office remains committed to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community.”

Sentencing dates have not yet been scheduled.
