FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – Deputies with the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office made 15 arrests during a busy weekend that spanned from 6 p.m. Friday, January 23, to 6 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2026, while responding to hundreds of calls for service across the county.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies handled 656 calls for service and conducted 216 traffic stops during the reporting period.
One of the arrests occurred Sunday evening after deputies took a drunk motorcyclist into custody following a crash on U.S. Highway 1. A civilian witness called 911 to report seeing a motorcycle crash and said the rider appeared intoxicated and smelled of alcohol. The witness told dispatchers the man uprighted his motorcycle and left the scene.
Deputies located the motorcyclist nearby and conducted a traffic stop. The rider, identified as 66-year-old Glenn Munger of Hastings, admitted to deputies that he was “a little buzzed,” according to the report. Deputies noted a strong odor of alcohol, bloodshot eyes, and slurred speech. Field sobriety exercises were discontinued due to safety concerns after Munger nearly fell several times.
Investigators said Munger has three prior DUI convictions in Florida. He was arrested and charged with DUI, fourth offense, and fleeing or eluding law enforcement. He was booked into the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility and held on a $15,000 bond.
Another incident occurred Friday in Palm Coast, where deputies arrested a man accused of striking an e-bike rider and fleeing the scene. Deputies were called to Palm Coast Parkway Northeast and Lake Forest Way after reports that a white Mazda struck a man riding an electric bicycle and dragged him and the bike several feet before leaving the area.
Through investigation, deputies located the suspect vehicle in the B-Section of Palm Coast with damage consistent with the crash. The driver, identified as 38-year-old Andrea Matranga of Palm Coast, denied any crash before deputies questioned him about the incident.
When deputies attempted to take Matranga into custody, investigators said he resisted, attempted to retreat into a home, and closed a door on a deputy’s foot. Deputies reported that multiple taser deployments were required before he was subdued and placed in handcuffs.
Matranga was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash with injury, battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence, and refusal to sign a citation. He was transported to AdventHealth Palm Coast for medical clearance and later booked into the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where he was released on a $15,000 bond.
The sheriff’s office credited public cooperation and rapid response for helping deputies address incidents throughout the weekend.
