Two Juvenile Brothers Arrested After Armed Robbery During Firearm Sale in LaBelle

HENDRY COUNTY, Florida – Hendry County detectives arrested two juvenile brothers early Friday morning, January 23, 2026, following an armed robbery investigation that began the night before in LaBelle.

According to the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office, detectives executed a search warrant during the early morning hours at a residence in the 5000 block of Littlefield Road. With assistance from the Hendry County Special Response Team and road patrol deputies, investigators took a 17-year-old and his 15-year-old brother into custody.

The investigation began Thursday evening, January 22, when the Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office regarding a victim who reported being robbed at gunpoint. The victim was directed to Hendry County to formally report the incident.

Detectives learned the victim had arranged to purchase a firearm from a 17-year-old juvenile and agreed to meet at a residence in LaBelle. When the victim arrived and remained inside his vehicle, two males reportedly exited the home and approached. During the interaction, the juvenile suspect opened the passenger door, pointed a handgun at the victim’s head, and reached under the victim’s leg, stealing a concealed firearm and $450 in cash. Both suspects then fled the scene on foot.

Following the investigation, deputies located and arrested both brothers. They are facing multiple charges, including Armed Robbery, Armed Burglary to a Conveyance, Grand Theft of a Firearm, Use of a Two-Way Communication Device to Facilitate a Felony, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Kidnapping to Facilitate a Felony, and Possession of a Weapon by a Florida Delinquent for an Adult Felony offense. Both juveniles are currently being held at a Juvenile Detention Facility.

Sheriff Steve Whidden used the incident to remind the public about the county’s Safe Exchange Zones, which are monitored 24 hours a day.

“We want to take this opportunity to remind individuals that the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office has four Safe Exchange Zones available, whether for child custody exchanges or internet purchase transactions,” Whidden said.

The Safe Exchange Zones are located at the Hendry County Jail on South Bridge Street, the Sheriff’s Office Administrative Office on East Cowboy Way, the Port LaBelle Annex on SE Raintree Boulevard, and the Clewiston Office on East El Paso Avenue.

The investigation is now closed with both suspects in custody.
