RIVERVIEW, Florida – A 54-year-old man with 54 prior felony convictions was arrested this week after deputies discovered a firearm inside his Riverview residence, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded at 9:28 p.m. February 9, 2026, to a home in the 12900 block of Gordon Road regarding a reported barricaded subject identified as Kenneth Allan Smith. During the investigation, deputies learned Smith had called a witness and made several threats.
Authorities said Smith has an extensive criminal history that includes multiple battery convictions and a prior sentence for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
On February 10, detectives obtained and executed a residential search warrant after learning Smith had firearms inside his bedroom. The search revealed a firearm in the residence.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Gang Unit observed Smith leaving the home and took him into custody without incident.
Smith is charged with one count of Resisting Without Violence and one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm. The investigation remains ongoing.
