TALLAHASSEE, Florida – The Tallahassee Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection with a homicide that occurred on February 17 in the 2800 block of Mission Road.
Following a swift investigation, detectives with TPD’s Violent Crimes Unit determined the victim and the suspect, 34-year-old Gage Champion, were known to one another and had been involved in an argument in the days leading up to the homicide.
On the day of the incident, both the victim and Champion were observed inside the residence together. Later that evening, officers responded to the same location and found the victim deceased, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Through investigative efforts that included evidence collection and witness statements, detectives established probable cause for an arrest. After consulting with the State Attorney’s Office, arrest warrants were issued.
Champion was taken into custody on February 18, 2026, in Crawfordville, Florida. He has been charged with First Degree Murder.
