INVERNESS, Fla. – Four teenagers were arrested Sunday afternoon, February 22nd, following an armed robbery at a Citgo gas station in Inverness, where deputies say suspects stole approximately $1,500 worth of vape products before fleeing the scene.
Citrus County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded around 2 p.m. to the Citgo station at 79 N. Florida Avenue after receiving reports of an armed robbery. Investigators determined that Joshua Robertson, 19, and Jamison Tanner, 16, entered the store armed with a firearm and confronted a clerk and a witness behind the counter. The pair allegedly took merchandise and left within about two minutes, an incident captured on surveillance video.
Authorities said Aiden Combs, 16, acted as a lookout outside the store while Alexander Vazquez, 17, served as the getaway driver.
Deputies immediately canvassed the area following the robbery. K9 Deputy Danner and K9 Cairo tracked fresh tire impressions that helped investigators determine the suspects’ direction of travel. After surveillance images were posted on the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, community members contacted dispatch and alerted deputies to the suspects’ identities.
All four suspects were located and taken into custody within five hours of the robbery, officials said.
Each teen faces felony charges, including robbery with a firearm and grand theft. The investigation remains active, and additional charges may be filed.
Sheriff David Vincent praised both law enforcement personnel and residents for their quick response.
“This case shows what can be accomplished when dedicated deputies and engaged community watchdogs work together,” Vincent said. “Our team moved quickly, and our residents stepped up without hesitation. Because of that partnership, these suspects were identified and apprehended in a matter of hours.”
