Richard Alan Spivey

Tallahassee Man Sentenced to 25 Years for Distribution and Receipt of Child Pornography

Tallahassee, FL – A 62-year-old Tallahassee man was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for distribution of child pornography and receipt of child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida.

Richard Alan Spivey was also ordered to serve a lifetime term of supervised release following his prison sentence. Any violation of the conditions of supervised release could result in additional incarceration.

The sentencing, announced Monday, follows Spivey’s guilty plea in November 2025. Court records show Spivey had prior convictions related to sexual abuse or sexual conduct involving a minor.

The case originated in July 2024 when the City of Tallahassee Police Department received a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). The report alleged that Spivey uploaded child pornography to a social media platform and sent it to another user during chat messages.

Federal investigators obtained search warrants for Spivey’s social media account and cell phone. The searches revealed online communications in which Spivey received and distributed child pornography videos to others.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida prosecuted the case. Spivey will begin serving his 25-year sentence in federal prison.
