Firefighters reunited with Matthew “Miracle Matt” Manzari, a patient they rescued nearly 12 years ago after a devastating electrical accident that responders say rarely ends in survival.

On June 25, 2014, Manzari was electrocuted while trimming trees near a church in Orlando’s College Park neighborhood when he struck a power line. He suffered severe burns and traumatic injuries across his body but remained conscious as bystanders called 911.

Crews from Orlando Firehouse 3 arrived within minutes and provided advanced life support, treating his injuries and stabilizing him before transporting him to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Firefighters said the calm, coordinated response during the chaotic emergency helped give Manzari a fighting chance.

Since the incident, Manzari has undergone more than 80 surgeries and made what many describe as a remarkable recovery. Today, he has returned to wake-skating and travels the country as a motivational speaker, sharing his survival journey.

During the reunion, firefighters met Manzari’s family and reflected on the lasting impact of that emergency call. His wife was pregnant with their first child on the day of the accident; the couple has since welcomed two more children.

The family said they are grateful for the additional years they have shared together, crediting the Firehouse 3 crew with saving his life.
