Daytona Beach Police Investigating Multiple Weekend Shootings And Disturbances

Daytona Beach, Fla. — The Daytona Beach Police Department is investigating several violent incidents that occurred across the city on March 14, including multiple shootings and large disturbances at businesses and public locations.

Police say the incidents appear to be unrelated, and at this time investigators do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community.

The first incident occurred around 12:36 a.m. at The Joint, located at 308 Seabreeze Boulevard. Officers responded after receiving reports of a shooting inside the establishment. Witnesses told police a man inside the venue became aggressive, leading several women to deploy mace during the confrontation. During the disturbance, the suspect discharged a firearm. The gunshot caused panic among patrons, with many people rushing to exit the building. No one was struck by the gunfire, but several individuals sustained minor injuries during the chaotic exit. Those injured were offered medical assistance and the option to seek treatment at a local hospital. Investigators believe the people involved were visiting the city and were not local residents.

Just minutes later, at approximately 12:44 a.m., officers conducting proactive patrol near 244 North Nova Road encountered a crowd of people in a parking lot who reported that someone had been shot. Officers located the victim and immediately rendered aid until emergency medical personnel arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition. Police say the suspect has not yet been identified and preliminary information suggests the shooter may not be from the area. Authorities also confirmed the victim is from out of town.

Later that evening, around 10:47 p.m., officers responded to the area of Kingston Avenue and Flinders Avenue following reports of another shooting. Officers located a victim suffering from two gunshot wounds and provided emergency aid before the victim was transported to a hospital for treatment. Preliminary information indicates the shooting followed a verbal altercation between individuals. Investigators are currently working to identify and locate the suspect.

Another shooting occurred at approximately 11:16 p.m. outside Cruisin Cafe, located at 2 South Atlantic Avenue. Officers were dispatched to the location after reports of a large fight and a weapons complaint. Police learned that a multi-person altercation broke out in front of the restaurant, during which a suspect produced a firearm and began shooting. One victim was struck by gunfire and officers provided medical aid before the victim was transported to a hospital.

Detectives say several videos related to the incidents are circulating on social media and investigators are reviewing those recordings as part of the ongoing investigations.
