NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. – A routine traffic stop in Callahan led to the recovery of stolen property valued at more than $25,000 and the arrest of a wanted suspect.
On March 18, 2026, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a pickup truck traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 1 after noticing the attached trailer had a blown tire and no visible lights.
During the stop, deputies identified the driver as Carlos Andrews and discovered he had an active warrant out of Jeff Davis County, Georgia.
As the investigation continued, deputies determined the trailer, valued at approximately $5,000, had been stolen from a business in Jacksonville.
Investigators also found that two large rolls of copper wire, worth about $20,000, had been loaded onto the trailer using a skid steer before being taken from the site.
Andrews was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
He was transported to the Nassau County Jail and Detention Center, where he is being held on a bond exceeding $75,000.
Authorities say additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.
