PUNTA GORDA, Fla. — Two men were arrested after deputies observed a cocaine sale in the parking lot of a local bar, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators with the Narcotics Unit said they had been monitoring Phillip Jerome Barker Jr., 36, and had probable cause for his arrest. On the evening of March 24, 2026, deputies observed Barker arrive at CJ’s Tavern, where he allegedly conducted a narcotics transaction in the parking lot before entering the bar.
Deputies made contact with Barker inside the business and also identified another individual, Kristofer Tomas Matos, 36, who was allegedly involved and also had an active warrant on narcotics charges.
Both men were taken into custody. During a search, deputies said Barker was found carrying a shoulder bag containing multiple small baggies of a white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine. Additional cocaine and a large amount of cash were found in his pockets.
Authorities said the total amount of suspected cocaine recovered was approximately 77 grams.
Barker faces multiple charges, including Trafficking in Cocaine and Driving with a Suspended or Revoked License (Habitual), along with additional charges tied to prior cases. His bond has been set at $291,000.
Matos was denied bond due to a violation of probation and remains in custody.
Both men are being held at the Charlotte County Jail.
