TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Firefighters responded to two separate residential fires within hours of each other Wednesday afternoon and early Thursday morning, according to the Tallahassee Fire Department.
The first fire was reported at approximately 3:36 p.m. on April 1 at a multi-residential building on Ocala Road. Crews arrived to find smoke and flames coming from a second-floor unit of a two-story apartment complex. Firefighters quickly began suppression efforts while conducting searches of the affected unit and nearby apartments.
Officials confirmed all residents were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported. However, one dog was found deceased inside the apartment. The fire was contained to the original unit, with no extension to other areas of the building.
The second fire occurred around 12:02 a.m. on April 2 at a mobile home on Pond Pine Street. Firefighters arrived to find the structure fully engulfed. Crews worked to extinguish the fire and protect nearby homes. A search confirmed no occupants were inside at the time.
Both scenes required overhaul operations to ensure safety, and the causes of the fires remain under investigation.
Multiple agencies assisted, including the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, Tallahassee Police Department, Leon County EMS, Talquin Electric Cooperative, City of Tallahassee Utilities, and the American Red Cross, which is helping displaced residents.
