BUNNELL, Fla. — A woman wanted on a felony domestic battery charge has been arrested after a monthlong investigation by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, authorities said.
Diana Reid, 49, of Bunnell, had been wanted since March 9 following a domestic disturbance that occurred the day before. Investigators said Reid struck the victim with a broom and threw multiple items, including kitchen plates, mustard, and a watermelon, during the incident.
After the victim contacted emergency dispatchers, Reid fled the residence before deputies arrived. Authorities later made contact with Reid, who indicated she was on probation and asked where she could leave her vehicle in anticipation of being arrested. However, deputies said she did not return and instead went into hiding.
Through the investigation, the Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit determined Reid had traveled to various locations across the state before returning to Flagler County, where she was believed to be hiding in the Bunnell area.
On April 8, deputies with the Fugitive Unit, Problem Area Crime Enforcement Unit, and K-9 Unit located Reid at a residence on Quarter Horse Lane and took her into custody without incident.
Reid was arrested on an active warrant for felony domestic battery with a prior conviction and violation of probation. She was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where she is being held without bond.
Sheriff Rick Staly said investigators believe Reid had been actively attempting to avoid capture.
Authorities noted Reid has an extensive criminal history, including more than 18 prior arrests for offenses such as fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement, battery, and domestic battery.
