Suspect Arrested After Facebook Marketplace Robbery and Shooting in Edgewater

EDGEWATER, Fla. — An 18-year-old suspect has been arrested following an armed robbery and shooting connected to a Facebook Marketplace transaction, according to police.

Edgewater Police responded just before 5:00 p.m. on April 8, 2026, to the 2000 block of Hibiscus Drive after reports of an armed robbery.

Investigators said the victim had arranged to sell a gold necklace to the suspect, identified as Braulio Abreu. During the meeting, Abreu allegedly placed the necklace in his pocket, pulled out a firearm, and fled toward a waiting vehicle.

As he ran, police said Abreu turned and fired multiple shots at the victim. The victim was not hit, but the gunfire struck a nearby building and a vehicle, creating additional danger.

Authorities obtained warrants for Abreu on charges of robbery with a firearm, aggravated assault with a firearm, grand theft, and shooting into an occupied building.

On April 15, Abreu was taken into custody by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Edgewater Police investigators are continuing to work the case.

The investigation remains ongoing.
