TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Tallahassee Police Department has arrested a man in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred early May 13 near a Tallahassee bar.
Police said officers responded around 4:33 a.m. to the 1100 block of West Tharpe Street after receiving reports of a shooting.
Investigators learned the victim had been transported to the area of Seventh Avenue and Monroe Street, where officers and emergency personnel attempted life-saving measures. Authorities said the victim later died from his injuries.
Detectives with the department’s Violent Crimes Unit identified 25-year-old Markus King as the suspect.
According to investigators, the victim had been asked to leave Sound Bar following an argument with staff members.
Police said the dispute continued outside the business, where the victim allegedly made threats before getting into a vehicle.
Investigators said King then retrieved a firearm kept at the business for security purposes and fired multiple shots, striking the victim.
Following consultation with the State Attorney’s Office, King was charged with second-degree homicide.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing.
